“Today if you hear His voice . . .” (Psalm 96:8).

Every word in this portion of Scripture reveals eternal, unfathomable, unspeakable revelation.

Today

God is in the “now.” He is the great I AM. “Today” reveals God’s great love and mercy. If a person repents, man can always come to Him and find forgiveness and newness.

(Today) If

“If” reveals revelations and mysteries beyond comprehension, such as:

1. God is offering Himself . . . including speaking. It is up to a person how they respond and/or receive. He is always offering Himself, even for eternity.
2. God has created man into His own image and likeness. God gave man choice and infinitely more.
3. Since man is the image of God, man chooses God or self. Even a believer chooses every day between God and self (Joshua 24:16). Man chooses to hear God or not.

(Today if) You

God offers Himself to every person on earth.
He has justified Himself to mankind, to every person in an infinite number of ways. He has offered Himself to a person for an infinite number of moments.

(Today if you) Hear

We can hear God’s voice with our spirit person.
He is always speaking, in many ways.
It is up to a person whether they hear Him or not.

(Today if you hear) His

The greatest and highest privilege for man is to know God.
It is an eternal mystery that God would allow a person to hear His voice . . . to have a personal relationship with Him . . . to be His child . . . to live forever with Him.

(Today if you hear His) Voice

God speaks . . . Jesus speaks . . . and infinitely more.
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27).
