New podcast 2-28-21: Jesus, the Bread of Life; His Flesh is Food; His Blood is Drink; He Gives the Living Water

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled” (Matthew 6:6).

A Greek translation says:
“Happy are the ones hungering and thirsting for justice, for they shall be being satisfied.”

Jesus spoke about hunger, thirst, food and drink.

The Holy Spirit

In John 4, Jesus said that whoever drinks the water He gives will never thirst. He revealed the Holy Spirit, utilizing the symbol of water:

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life” (John 4:13-14).

Jesus, the Bread of Life

In the bread of life passage in John 6, Jesus said He is the bread of life, in various ways, nine (9) times. The variations are: “the bread of life; the living bread; the bread of God; the bread from heaven; the bread” (John 6: 32, 33, 35, 48, 50, 51 twice, 58 twice).
Of the seven “I am” revelations in the Gospel of John, the bread of life passage is the longest and most detailed about God’s plan for humanity through His Son.
Jesus also revealed that He fully satisfies someone’s hunger and thirst. He said: “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst” (John 6:35).

Jesus’ Flesh and Blood

Jesus spoke further about His flesh and blood, about eternal life, and more:

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me” (John 6:53-57).

It is serious to note that if someone does not partake of Jesus, they have no life in them; they are not spiritually alive (John 6:53).

Jesus Offers Fellowship

In the Book of Revelation, Jesus speaks about His offer of fellowshipping with a person. Jesus says:

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20).

He utilizes an allegory to reveal spiritual truth and revelation:
1. A person is referred to as a house. Jesus knocks on the door. If a person opens the door of their innermost being, Jesus will enter.
2. Jesus offers to “dine, sup, eat, share a meal with” with someone (Various translations). Jesus and His presence, which is the glory of the Lord, fully satisfies. Jesus becomes that person’s food and drink, spiritually.

How do we know man was born to fellowship with God? Some examples:
1. Jesus revealed it in Revelation 3:20.
2. The first person created was in the glory of God, fellowshipping with Him.
3. Jesus spoke about the treasure hidden in a field and the pearl of great price (Matthew 13:44-46).
4. Jesus revealed the anointing in John 7:38.

“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water” (John 7:38).

5. Paul wrote about fellowship with the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14).
6. Saints will fellowship with God in heaven, forever.
