Jerusalem, the City of the Great King

In the passage below, Jesus revealed that the heavens are God’s throne, and the earth is His footstool.
He also revealed that Jerusalem is the city of the great King.

Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, “You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.” But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne; nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King (Matthew 5:33-35).

Jesus said:
1. Do not swear at all (v. 34).
2. Do not swear by heaven (v. 34).
3. Heaven is God’s throne (v. 34).
4. Do not swear by the earth (v. 35).
5. The earth is God’s footstool (v. 35).
6. Do not swear by Jerusalem (v. 35).
7. Jerusalem is the city of the great King (v. 35).

“The Holy City, New Jerusalem”
