How to Live Forever

Jesus offers His followers, His children, the opportunity to live forever.

Yes, it is true. Those who find Jesus as Lord and Savior and follow and serve Him, will live forever. Where? In heaven, a place so wonderful, glorious, and beautiful that it cannot be put into human words. God Himself is so wonderful, glorious, majestic, and beautiful that He cannot be put into human words. Heaven is filled, permeated with, and made with the very presence of God Almighty, the presence of Jesus Christ.

When and where did Jesus say His followers could live forever?

Below are four (4) specific scriptures in which Jesus promises that His followers will live forever and never die.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:14-15

“I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.” John 6:51

“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish.” John 10:28

“And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:26

Below are those same four scriptures along with some of the scripture before and after.

“And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:14-16

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die.

I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” John 6:47-51

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” John 10:27-30

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26

What is eternal life? What is life everlasting?

“And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3

In the gospels, we see the phrases “eternal life” and “everlasting life.” They sound similar, and they are! In the original Greek, those two phrases are the same Greek words. The two phrases are actually the same thing.

For example, the John 3:16, one of the most famous verse in the Bible, most translations use the phrase “everlasting life.” But the translators could have utilized the phrase “eternal life.”

The two original Greek words for “everlasting life” are the same two words which are sometimes translated “eternal life,” which means “knowing God.”

How to Live Forever

Make Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior; give him your life and innermost being (the real you); walk with Him and serve Him as best you can; and you receive eternal life, which is knowing God. And you will live forever. Amen!
