“Then one of the scribes came, and . . . asked Him, ‘Which is the first commandment of all?’
Jesus answered him, ‘The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these’” (Mark 12:28-31).

The Lord our God, the Lord is one!
The only true God is one.
The truth that He is one is an eternal revelation.
It is the Holy Spirit who reveals this and all revelations.

The Trinity

God is one.
Yet, He is three Persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
He has revealed Himself to mankind as a trinity.
Yet, the trinity is one God: the only true God.
This revelation is an eternal mystery.
He revealed Himself as a trinity when He sent Jesus Christ to the earth, to give life to the world (John 6:33).
The trinity is another eternal revelation of the only true God.
Really, everything related to God Almighty is eternal and is a revelation – an eternal revelation!

The Need

God is perfect. Everything He does is perfect.
Everything He does has eternal purpose.
He sent Jesus Christ, because there was a need. Man needed to be saved – from sin, the world, the enemy, hell and so forth.
Before He sent Jesus, God had not revealed Himself as a trinity. He had revealed Himself with many names and in many ways. But He was not yet known as the Father and the Son.
At the appropriate time, He sent Jesus to the earth. God’s plan for humanity was revealed.
God Himself was revealed: Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior . . . the Lord God Almighty.

The Trinity

The trinity is such a wonderful revelation.
God revealed Himself as a trinity because of His love for mankind – to save mankind!
He revealed Himself as Jesus Christ to offer eternal life to mankind – which includes the infinite, eternal depth of the riches of the glory of Himself and all that He is! To offer Himself to man!
He sent Jesus to reveal Himself!
Jesus Christ is the Son of God . . . and God!
Jesus is the revelation of God.
God’s offer and gift is truly beyond comprehension.
The Holy Spirit reveals the only true God.
The Holy Spirit is God!
He glorifies Jesus. He reveals that Jesus is the Lord God Almighty.
And of course, He reveals that the Father is greater than all. Amen.
