and the Worlds Under the Earth

 

 

In the Bible, there are more than 100 verses about the five worlds under the earth: hell, the pit, tartarus, the lake of fire, and paradise.

The vast majority of the scriptures are about hell and the pit. A full summary of these five worlds are on pages 128-136.

Hell – where lost, unsaved souls go after death

The Pit – the home of demons

Tartarus – where fallen angels are kept in chains

Lake of fire – where hell will be for eternity

Paradise – where pre-resurrection saints went

 

But if the Lord creates a new thing, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them up with all that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the pit, then you will understand that these men have rejected the Lord.

Numbers 16:30

 

So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly.

Numbers 16:33

 

For a fire is kindled in My anger, and shall burn to the lowest hell; It shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.

Benaiah was the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man from Kabzeel, who had done many deeds. He had killed two lion-like heroes of Moab. He also had gone down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit on a snowy day.
